COVID-19

After a long absence from football due to the Covid pandemic, we were delighted to be allowed to start playing again recently. In the intervening period however, football in general has changed, and football for us has changed too.

Our hosts - Partington Sports Village and Egerton Sports in Knutsford - are allowing us to use their facilities, but only on the condition that we operate in a safe manner. We want to make sure your football experience is a safe one, and we have therefore carried out our own risk assessment.

The risk assessment document can be downloaded using the link at the bottom of this page. All members are required to read this document.

In order to make football safe, our administrators and members need to follow a set of guidelines. These are summarised below.

Covid Safe Practice Guidelines

  1. All players must complete a Covid-19 self certification questionnaire on the day of each session, before attending.

  2. The club will keep a record of all attendees.

  3. All participants should be encouraged to report any Covid-19 symptoms, positive Covid-19 test results or any contact from the health services to ask that they self-isolate due to potential contact with Covid-19 to the club officials immediately.

  4. Participants should be reminded that nobody with symptoms that may indicate they have Covid-19 or who has been contacted by the health authorities to self-isolate due to potential contact with Covid-19 should attend any football activity.

  5. Players must not travel with people from outside their family or support bubble.

  6. Players should observe social distancing measures wherever possible.

  7. Players must wait in the designated safe area until it is safe to enter the playing area.

  8. The club will provide hand sanitiser, to be used by players before each session.

  9. The club will sanitise footballs at the start of each session. There should be no need for players to touch other apparatus or equipment, such as door or gate handles.

  10. Players must not share equipment, such as goalkeeper gloves or drink bottles.

  11. Personal items and drinks should be easily identifiable and stored at the side of the pitch.

  12. Players will be given their own training bib, which they will take home and wash between sessions.

  13. Spitting, squirting of water bottles and swilling of water that is then spat out, is not acceptable. This includes goalkeepers spitting on their own gloves to improve grip.

  14. Participants should refrain from shouting, especially when face to face or in close proximity to others.

  15. Traditional throw-ins are not being used. Instead, play should be restarted from a kick-in at the place the ball left the pitch. For a kick-in, the ball should be passed along the ground. If the ball leaves the floor from a kick-in, it is the equivalent of a foul throw.

  16. When treating injuries, the first aider should wear a face covering and ensure they follow the FA guidance on treating injuries whilst considering Covid-19 transmission.
